Before, strangers used to point out how beautiful my smile is. Now, I walk into my classrooms and it is as though my professors have to ask permission to get a smile out of me. Just yesterday, I walked in to the grocery store and the man on the counter smiled at me, very brightly, and said hello. I smiled very genuinely though not as big of a smile as he expected, then looked down to count my money. Because he did not see the smile due to the hat I was wearing, he said "you're mean" in a serious but yet concerned tone. I instantly said, "no! no, sorry I smiled back but you didn't see because of my hat. Please, don't take it personal." Then he said, "oh, I thought I said something wrong so I felt bad." In that moment I realized that my smile was no longer big enough.
I've always been the one to strike a smile and that's made me even more beautiful. I smile so greatly in the presence of certain people, but when these people aren't present I forget all about being a little extra beautiful, and wear the serious face that people apparently seem to dislike. When you smile, you send a powerful message to those around you. When you smile to a stranger, they will almost instantly smile back and they wouldn't even know why. This is because smiling is contagious and aside from that, it is our nature. So why not use it when it's free, comes with no damage and never fails us? Sometimes even at our worst, we rely on a simple smile from another being and that alone is so moving to one. Smiling is powerful, smiling is powerful. It can brighten someone's day on the train, it can brighten a friend's mood in an instant. Smile because you don't know who's watching and that person might need it- when we smile so brightly without any doubts bringing us down, others receive this positive energy and it makes them like you; they' become attracted to you. Smile because someone might be looking... And they just might fall in love with it. Do not only smile when you're happy; a check came in, your special other bought you something, you got a new dog, etc. but smile, also, when things are bad. Smile, because it's what will help you move forward, it is the start to your motivation and the presentation of your overall strength. When you smile people only get one message: you're happy. And when you begin to believe in what you do, happy you will be even if you aren't.
So just smile because almost everyone will like you and the best part is, you will be remembered by people... And everyone wants to be remembered. Not for the downer, or the sad one but rather, the life of the party and "the one with the amazing smile."
